SALARY: $65k base plus commission

Inside Higher Ed is looking for a motivated, high-energy Account Executive to join our Careers recruiting team. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their sales career who has built a strong foundation through a few years of hands-on sales experience and is ready to take the next step. The right candidate will enjoy prospecting, starting conversations, learning how to manage a sales territory, and turning opportunities into closed business. Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Account Executive will make outbound calls to prospective customers, respond quickly to inbound leads, support renewal sales, and win new annual contracts. We are looking for someone with exposure to cold calling, renewal sales, and new business sales who is eager to grow, learn, and build a successful career in sales.
Role Responsibilities:
Proactively connect with prospective and existing customers by phone and email to uncover needs, introduce solutions, create sales opportunities, and drive revenue growth
Own customer enquiries within an assigned territory, moving quickly to engage prospects, answer questions, and keep opportunities progressing
Clearly communicate product value, pricing, and recommended solutions that help customers meet their hiring and recruiting goals
Follow up consistently and confidently to nurture leads, advance opportunities through the sales cycle, and close new and renewal business
Maintains accurate and up-to-date customer records, activities and pipeline information within Salesforce and Outreach
Stay curious and informed about our products, customers, and market so you can spot opportunities, speak credibly, and sell with confidence
Requirements:
Energetic, curious, and motivated by sales activity, customer conversations, and winning new business
A couple of years of hands-on sales experience, ideally in a Sales Development Representative, Account Executive, Account Manager, or similar customer-facing revenue role
Exposure to cold calling, renewal sales, and new business sales, with a strong interest in developing prospecting, pipeline management, and closing skills
Strong customer service and tele sales skills
Assertive, outgoing, and entrepreneurial, with a resilient approach to outreach, follow-up, and sales goals
Strong work ethic demonstrated by willingness to jump in where and when needed to accomplish shared objectives
Experienced in Web-Based Applications (Salesforce & Outreach) and Windows
Good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Interest in building sales-cycle management and solution-selling skills in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Management, Business or related field preferred
Experience selling to Higher Education Institutions is a plus
Effective communication and client presentation skills
Ability to work independently on multiple tasks
Experience in recruiting or job placement a plus
